Three Days Broke: Hunger, Bad Luck, and a Girlfriend Who Shows Up Anyway

Three Days Broke: Hunger, Bad Luck, and a Girlfriend Who Shows Up Anyway A darkly comic slice-of-life story about bad days, worse luck, and the one thing that makes it all bearable. Three Days Broke Jones has been broke for three days now — one of those stretches where salary came late. For those three days, hunger had been his steady companion. He could sit in a corner and you could hear his stomach rumble loudly, and when you looked at him, he would be yawning like a fish out of the river. He lamented how the government always delayed in paying civil servants. "What sort of country is this?" he would mutter, shaking his head. "I give my sweat and blood for this civil service job, but what do I get in return? A delayed salary and hunger as my constant companion. I'm tired of this," he would say. The Aroma That Woke Him That day, at exactly 5:30 AM, he was sound asleep. It had been a rough night because sleep couldn't come due to the hunger. He had begged ...

The image is a digital illustration in a vibrant, modern comic-book style that highlights the nervous energy and comedic chaos of the story. In the center, Austin—a handsome, clean-cut young man—sits on the edge of a bed, looking completely overwhelmed. He is sweating profusely, with wide, panicked eyes and a flustered expression. Beside him, the petite blonde, Rose, has a confident and mischievous smirk. She is shown locking the bedroom door with one hand while gripping Austin's arm with the other, asserting her control over the situation. The background adds to the "wild party" atmosphere: In a mirror reflection, a disheveled and drunken Brandon is seen leaning against a wall, clutching a red solo cup. Through the open doorway in the distance, Eddy and a brunette woman are visible, with Eddy pointing and laughing. The foreground features a bedside table cluttered with a red cup and several blue foil protection packets, emphasizing the "man of the moment" expectations Austin's friends have for him. The lighting is warm and atmospheric, using amber tones from a bedside lamp to contrast with the dark, crowded hallway seen through the door.

Intro:

Austin is twenty-five, handsome, well-paid, and a virgin. His friends think he's been around. He lets them think that. The truth is he has never managed to say more than three words to a woman without his nerve giving out completely. Then Chan invites everyone to a wild party, Sunny hands out protection like a pharmacy, Brandon forgets his own name by 9 PM — and a petite blonde named Rose decides Austin is the most interesting person in the room. Austin had no plan for any of this. Rose had a plan for all of it. What happens next is the education he never expected, featuring ice cubes, a locked door, Eddy walking in at the worst possible moment, and a phone number written in marker on a shirt he will never wash again.

Austin's Problem

Austin had been thinking about women for a very long time—since he was twelve years old—and he had never actually been with one. Even now, at twenty-five, he had never had a girlfriend and just wasn't sure how to relate to the opposite sex.

He is handsome and has a good job with one of the big tech companies as a programmer. He earns good pay and lives in a nice flat with state-of-the-art architecture. He has a satisfying occupation, but his only regret is not having a girlfriend. He remembers the day he tried to pay a hooker, but he lost his nerve when he approached her and had to run. He just doesn't know what is pushing him away from women. He loves women, but he doesn't have the nerve to talk to them. It feels like he would die if he talked to a woman, and since he is afraid of death, that's the trouble with women.

His friends don't know about it. They think he has slept with lots of women. A rich, handsome young man—any woman would be glad to be with him. He just lets them talk and never tells them that he is still a virgin at twenty-five. Their mockery would be worse than what he is going through. He watches a lot of adult content online and wonders when he will stop watching and start living.

The Party Invitation

One day, he was invited to a house party by one of his friends named Chan, a Chinese guy who was born and raised in New York. They were five close friends, and Chan had invited all of them, claiming it would be a wild party and there would be no shortage of female company — all arranged and paid for by his company.

"How can your company arrange such a party?" Eddy asked on the group video call they were all on.

"What's wrong with having fun?" Brandon asked Eddy with a scowl.

"There's nothing wrong, man," Eddy said. "I'm just curious why the wild party."

"They say curiosity killed the cat," Sunny mocked him. "If you don't want to enjoy yourself tonight, say so and I'll take your share."

"No way am I sitting this out," Eddy said, and they all laughed at him.

"Hey Austin, what do you think about tonight?"

"I'm ready," Austin said, and they hailed him as the man of the moment. He just waved them away, and they went on to plan how to make it lively.

"Guys," Chan said after a while, "don't forget your protection."

"I always have mine wherever I go," Sunny said, slapping his jacket to show it was there at that very moment.

"Wow!" Eddy exclaimed. "Sunny, you never slow down, do you?"

"As long as the opportunity presents itself, no stress there," Sunny said with a grin.

"Alright guys, tonight's on Chan's company," Brandon said with a laugh. "And Sunny, bring extras — I can't be going to the store now."

"Don't worry guys, I'll be your supplier tonight. Mind you, this is like a junkie looking for his next shot."

Arriving at the Party

At the appointed time, Austin went to Chan's company house for the party. He was so nervous seeing lots of girls in their skimpy outfits. His throat tightened and he swallowed hard. He wondered if he was making the biggest mistake of his life. He wondered what his friends would think if they knew he was a virgin and everything he'd been saying was just bragging to fit in with them.

He could already see people having fun without any shame. He grabbed a drink and started looking for his friends. He spotted Chan whispering in a petite blonde's ear, and she was giggling like her life depended on what he was saying. He stood there watching them, sweating, when a woman looked at him with sultry eyes. Someone bumped into him and muttered, "Sorry, son, I was just floating."

"Brandon," he called. "When did you get here? And you're already plastered?"

"Am I, Brandon?" he asked with a giggle. "Wow, what a lovely name."

"Hey! Chan," he called.

Chan looked irritated, glanced up, and saw Austin beckoning him over. He made a gesture toward the woman, who laughed as he walked toward Austin. "I was busy, man. Why the distraction?"

"It's Brandon," Austin said, nodding at Brandon, who had flopped onto a sofa.

"So?" Chan asked with a questioning look.

"He doesn't even know his own name."

"Of course not. It's a wild party. Everyone's plastered and having a good time. Even Sunny's here. He told me to send you upstairs to get your protection from him."

"I thought he had Durex?" Austin asked.

"Don't care, man. I need to find that girl. They say she's wild, and I need that energy."

"What are you talking about?"

"Just go to Sunny. I can't stand here talking while everyone's having a good time. What's wrong with you? You look nervous."

"Nothing. Sunny's upstairs, right?"

"Yeah," Chan said, turning around. He couldn't spot the blonde anymore, swore under his breath, and hurried off to find her.

The Encounter

Austin went upstairs looking for Sunny. He started opening doors. What he saw in the first room almost gave him a heart attack; he slammed it shut and moved to the next. There he found Sunny in a very compromising position with a woman. Sunny spotted him and grinned. "Wanna join?"

"No, man. The protection?"

"Over there," he said, pointing to the table by the door.

Austin snatched a pack and bolted out to Sunny's laughter.

As he stepped into the hallway, he crashed into someone. "Sorry," he said, steadying her, then froze when he realized it was the petite blonde Chan had been whispering to earlier.

"Don't be," she said with a playful grin. "I've been looking for you."

"Me?" he stammered, trying to back away, palms already slick with sweat.

"Yes, you."

"B-but why?"

"Because I know your type."

"You're… you're mistaken."

"Am I?" She leaned closer. "Should I shout it so everyone hears your secret?"

The blood drained from his face. "That's bullshit," he tried to sound brave.

"Hmmm." She smirked, toying with him. "Let me shout it and we'll see if you can prove me wrong."

"Wait!" Sweat beaded on his forehead, eyes darting for escape.

"Wait for what?"

"What do you want?"

She cut off his stammering by grabbing his wrist, dragging him into an empty room, and locking the door.

He started begging. "Please don't do this. I'll give you any amount, just—"

"That's nice music," she said. His eyes bulged as he tried to look away.

"Never been this close to a woman before, have you?"

She stepped closer and laughed when she felt his reaction. "Are you really going to let yourself suffer like this?"

"N-no," he mumbled, voice shaking.

"See? Easy." She pushed him onto the bed and watched as he fell with a squeak. She laughed seeing him so nervous. Oh what a day to remember — finding a virgin, and a handsome one at that. She knew she had that killer look that made men do a double take when they saw her, just like Chan had been trying to get her attention with his wild exaggerations. Oh, if only he knew what she was capable of. She prowled toward Austin — yes, she had found out his name from Chan after he had found her, and she had given an excuse to slip away. It was a bonus to listen to him and Chan talk before slipping upstairs.

What followed was an education Austin had not been expecting. She took her time, patient and deliberate, making sure he understood every step of the way. She was thorough, and by the time she was done with her introduction, Austin had lost count of how many times she had made his composure crumble completely.

The Interruption

Austin lay on the bed, heart still hammering, wondering what she had planned next. While his mind replayed everything, the door banged open.

He damn near had a heart attack when Eddy stumbled in, drunk as a lord, one arm slung around a giggling brunette. Eddy was belting out some filthy drinking song Austin would've sworn his friend didn't even know the words to.

"Someone's in here!" the brunette crowed, eyes wide, staring at Austin.

"The fuck are you on about?" Eddy slurred, squinting blearily.

"There's a guy in here, baby."

"Ah, shit. Room's taken." Eddy grinned like a devil. "Or… maybe we all share?"

"Eddy!" Austin barked.

Eddy's head snapped around. "Austin? That you?"

"Over here, you idiot," Austin said.

Eddy shuffled closer, took one look, and burst out laughing. "Mate! Who the hell did this to you?"

Before Austin could answer, the brunette was already making herself comfortable on the bed.

Eddy shrugged, still grinning.

The door flew open again.

The blonde stormed in, eyes blazing. In one smooth motion she pulled the brunette away. "Mine," she snarled.

"Easy, blondie," Eddy laughed, hands up. "It's a free-for-all tonight. Everyone shares."

"Not this one." The blonde's smile turned wicked as she lifted a bowl of ice cubes. "Look what I brought us," she said to Austin.

Eddy let out a low whistle. "Christ, Austin. You're having way more fun than the rest of us." He turned to the brunette and tugged her toward the corner. "C'mon, love. Let's get creative."

What followed in that room defied easy description. The ice, the tension, the sharp contrast of sensations — Austin lost track of time entirely. When it was all over, both of them panting and half-laughing, Austin caught her wrist before she could leave.

The Morning After

"Wait—what's your name?"

She turned, flashed that same wicked smile. "Rose."

"That was…" He searched for a word big enough and came up empty. "I'd kill to do it again. Give me your number?"

"I'd be honored," she said softly, grabbing his discarded shirt and scrawling her digits across the chest in black marker. Then she slipped out the door like smoke.

Eddy whistled low. "Austin, you smooth bastard."

Austin just grinned, still catching his breath. They pulled on whatever clothes they could find and headed out to track down the rest of the crew — compare war stories, brag a little, maybe find the next adventure. The night was still young.

On their way downstairs, Eddy elbowed him. "You use the protection, mate?"

Austin winced. "Completely forgot, bro. Got… distracted."

"You can say that again," Eddy muttered, staring off like a man who'd just seen something legendary.

Austin laughed and clapped him on the shoulder. "Come on. Let's go find the boys."
