Submission Guidelines – Twisted Stories

Thank you for your interest in submitting a story to TwistedStories.store! We welcome dark fiction, horror, dark comedy, supernatural thrillers, moral tales, and twisted slice-of-life stories with strong Nigerian flavor or universal appeal.

What We Accept

• Original short stories (2,500 – 4,000+ words preferred).

• Dark fantasy, horror, supernatural, psychological thrillers, and dark comedy.

• Stories with strong moral lessons, twists, or emotional depth.

• Pidgin English stories (with English translations) are highly encouraged.

• Series continuations (if Part 1 is already published on the site).

What We Do NOT Accept

• Plagiarized or AI-generated content.

• Extreme gore, non-consensual explicit content, or hate speech.

• Real-life defamation or stories that target real people.

• Political propaganda or overly preachy religious content (subtle moral lessons are fine).

How to Submit

Use subject line: Submission – [Story Title]

Attach the story as a .doc or .docx file.

Include in the email:

Your pen name / Author name

Short bio (2–3 sentences)

Word count

Whether you want content warning added

Response Time

We aim to reply within 7–14 days. Due to high volume, we may not respond to every submission. If accepted, we will edit lightly for grammar/flow and add subheadings/content warnings where needed.

Rights

You retain full copyright.

We ask for non-exclusive publishing rights on the site.

You may republish the story elsewhere after it appears here.

Tips for Better Acceptance

Aim for 2,200+ words for stronger impact.

Strong opening hook and clear ending.

Emotional depth or memorable twist.

Authentic voice (especially Nigerian settings, Pidgin, or cultural elements).
